## Description

A Liquid Crystal Light Valve (LCLV) is a small piece of liquid crystal material sandwiched between two glass sheets that can be electronically switched from semi-transparent to opaque. By varying the applied voltage, you can control how much light passes through — perfect for "reveal" effects, variable-opacity displays, and electronic shutter applications. At rest (no voltage), the glass appears tinted grey since ambient light is unpolarised. Applying voltage from around 1.0 V begins darkening the panel, with full opacity reached at approximately 4.0 V (blocking ~95% of light). Maximum recommended voltage is 5.0 V.
