Luxonis Oak-1 DepthAI Hardware
Discontinued
The Luxonis OAK-1 is an all-in-one machine vision solution built around the Intel Myriad X Vision Processing Unit. With 4 trillion operations per second of AI processing power, it runs neural networks on-board, freeing your host processor from the computational burden of real-time vision tasks.
The integrated 12 megapixel camera connects to the Myriad X via a 2.1 Gbps MIPI interface. Neural inference results are returned over USB as a lightweight data stream — for object detection, this reduces the data your host handles from 2.1 Gbps of raw video down to approximately 24 Kbps of structured results.
Key Features
- Intel Myriad X VPU – 4 TOPS of on-device AI inference
- 12 MP Camera – High-resolution imaging via 2.1 Gbps MIPI interface
- On-Board Neural Processing – Runs AI models locally, offloading the host CPU
- USB Connectivity – Lightweight results stream to host over USB
- Low Host CPU Usage – Near-zero CPU utilisation on the host device
Performance
- OAK-1 + Raspberry Pi – 50+ FPS MobileNet-SSD at ~0% RPi CPU utilisation
- NCS2 + Raspberry Pi – 8 FPS at 225% CPU utilisation (for comparison)
