Intel® Edison Compute Module

Discontinued

The Intel Edison is a compact computing platform built on a 22nm Intel SoC, combining a dual-core Intel Atom CPU at 500 MHz with a 32-bit Intel Quark microcontroller at 100 MHz. Despite its tiny form factor (roughly the size of a postage stamp), it packs serious processing power for IoT and embedded applications.

With built-in dual-band WiFi and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), the Edison is essentially wireless out of the box. It includes 1GB LPDDR3 RAM and 4GB eMMC storage, plus support for 40 GPIOs when paired with a breakout board.

Key Features

  • Dual-Core Intel Atom CPU – 500 MHz, dual-threaded on 22nm process
  • Intel Quark Microcontroller – 32-bit MCU at 100 MHz for real-time tasks
  • 1GB LPDDR3 RAM – Ample memory for Linux-based applications
  • 4GB eMMC Storage – Onboard flash storage for OS and applications
  • Dual-Band WiFi – Built-in wireless connectivity
  • Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) – For short-range wireless communication
  • 40 GPIO Support – When connected to a breakout board
  • Ultra-Compact – Stamp-sized module for embedded integration

Ideal For

  • Internet of Things (IoT) projects
  • Wearable technology prototyping
  • Embedded computing and automation
  • Wireless sensor networks

Package Contents

  • 1× Intel Edison Compute Module
Note: This is the compute module only. The board connector is very small and requires a breakout board for easy access to pins and ports. A Mini Breakout Board or Arduino Breakout Board is recommended for development.
