Every Finch needs its own BBC micro:bit as a processor, so budget for five if your school is starting from scratch — we sell micro:bit boards separately. What arrives 5 x Finch Robot 2.0 5 x micro USB cables for charging and for flashing the micro:bit 1 x USB charging hub, so the whole flock tops up from one power point The Finch is deliberately the same robot at every year level: the blocks a Year 5 class drags in MakeCode give way to Python and Java in the senior years without buying new hardware. Wheel encoders, light and line sensors, an ultrasonic distance sensor, tri-colour LEDs and a buzzer are built into each unit, and a central pen holder turns the flock into a drawing exercise whenever you want maths in the mix.
