Made from a carbon fibre composite rather than steel, so they are light in the hand, will not rust, and survive being dropped on a workshop floor rather better than you would expect. These read out on an LCD instead of a traditional vernier scale, which removes the most common source of student error: misreading the sliding scale. You still get all four classic measurements.
