## Description

This breakout makes it much easier to use the tiny MAX4544 SPDT analogue switch in prototypes and one-off builds. It gives you a solid-state alternative to a relay for switching between two analogue signal paths, with a compact board and a plug-and-play STEMMA JST PH input so you can get started without fiddly surface-mount soldering. The switch behaviour is straightforward: when the selection signal is low, the Common pin connects to the Normally Closed (NC) pin and disconnects from the Normally Open (NO) pin. When the selection signal is high, Common connects to NO and disconnects from NC. Because it is an analogue switch rather than a mechanical relay, it does not wear out mechanically, switches in about 30nS, and the MAX4544 provides break-before-make operation so the NC and NO pins will not accidentally cross-connect.For connections, the board includes a JST PH (2mm pitch) input connector for power and control, plus an output terminal block for the Common, Normally Open and Normally Closed signals. You can also access the signal and power pins on a 0.1" breakout header. Keep in mind that this board is intended for signal routing rather than power switching: V+ must be at least as high as the highest analogue voltage you want to switch, negative voltages cannot be applied to the COM/NO/NC pins, and it is not suitable for sourcing or sinking more than a few mA.Specifications:Switch IC: MAX4544 SPDT analog switchSwitched signal voltage: up to 12VSwitch time: about 30nSBreak-before-make: guaranteedV+ power: from 3V up to 12VLogic level input: at least 2.5VDCInput connector: JST PH (2mm pitch)Output connection: terminal block with the common, Normally Open and Normally Closed signalsBreakout header: 0.1" breakout headerSignal limitation: No negative voltages can be applied to the COM/NO/NC pinsCurrent limitation: not good for providing more than a few mA of currentProduct Dimensions: 25.3mm x 17.8mm x 10.1mm / 1.0" x 0.7" x 0.4"Product Weight: 2.7g / 0.1ozA handy option for routing analogue signals in breadboard-friendly builds, test setups, and other projects where you want fast switching without relay wear or relay coil power draw.
