{"title":"MLX90632 FIR Remote Thermal Temperature Sensor","handle":"adafruit-mlx90632-fir-remote-thermal-temperature-sensor","url":"/products/adafruit-mlx90632-fir-remote-thermal-temperature-sensor","description":"This compact breakout uses Melexis' MLX90632 FIR sensor to read the temperature of a target without making contact. It's handy for checking surfaces that are hot, cold, moving, delicate or awkward to reach with a probe, and it can also report its own local on-chip temperature.The fitted MLX90632SLD-DCB is the medical-grade version, factory calibrated for high accuracy in the 35 to 42˚C range for medical applications. You can also switch it into extended mode to measure object temperatures from -20 to 100˚C. With a 50˚ field of view, it works best when used only a few centimetres from the item being measured, rather than averaging a larger area from farther away.Adafruit has mounted the sensor on a custom PCB in the STEMMA QT form factor, with JST-SH connectors on both sides for quick solderless I2C wiring. These connectors are compatible with SparkFun Qwiic, so it's easy to add into an existing I2C chain with a suitable cable. A strip of header is also included if you'd prefer to solder it into breadboard or perfboard.On-board voltage regulation and level shifting mean it can be used with both 3V and 5V microcontrollers or microcomputers over I2C, making it a neat fit for Arduino-compatible boards, Raspberry Pi and similar platforms.Features:Non-contact sensing: Measures the temperature of an object it is pointed at without touching it.Medical-grade version: Breakout includes the MLX90632SLD-DCB sensor.Medical application accuracy: Factory calibrated with an accuracy of ±0.2˚C within the narrow object temperature range from 35 to 42˚C for medical applications.Extended measurement mode: Can measure object temperatures from -20 to 100˚C.Local temperature reading: Can also measure the local temperature on chip.STEMMA QT form factor: Custom PCB makes interfacing quick and tidy.Qwiic compatible: STEMMA QT connectors on either side are compatible with SparkFun Qwiic I2C connectors.Header included: Includes a bit of header for breadboard or perfboard installation.3V and 5V compatible: On-board level shifting and voltage regulation support use with any 3V or 5V microcontrollers / microcomputers that have I2C.Specifications:Calibration: Factory calibratedTemperature calculation: External ambient and object temperature calculationStandard measurement resolution: 0.02°CMedical measurement resolution: 0.01°CPower: Supply voltage of 3.3V, supply current 1mA (sleep current less than 2.5uA)Interface: I2C compatible digital interfaceI2C address: Software definable I2C address with 1 LSBbit external address pinField of View: 50°Refresh rate: Default refresh rate 0.5s, configurable between 16ms and 2sPost-calibration: Integrated post-calibration optionProduct Dimensions: 25.5mm x 17.7mm x 4.7mm / 1.0\" x 0.7\" x 0.2\"Product Weight: 1.7g / 0.1ozA compatible STEMMA QT or Qwiic cable is needed for plug-and-play use and is not included. This board is a good fit for non-contact surface temperature checks, compact instruments, appliance monitoring and medical or lab prototypes where a touch probe isn't practical.","vendor":"Adafruit","product_type":"Infrared Temperature Sensor","in_stock":true,"options":[],"variants":[{"id":15534,"title":"Default Title","sku":"AF-6403","mpn":"ADA6403","price":41.77,"on_sale":false,"in_stock":true,"available_quantity":100}]}
