It allows any I2C-capable microcontroller or single-board computer to communicate with 1-Wire devices — most commonly DS18B20 temperature sensors — without needing to bit-bang the 1-Wire protocol. The eight selectable channels let you assign each sensor to a dedicated channel, eliminating the need to identify sensors by their unique ROM addresses. This makes sensor swaps and installations straightforward. The breakout supports both parasitic and external power modes, operates at 3.3V or 5V, and features an adjustable I2C address for multi-device buses.
