A built-in 16-bit 6-channel ADC digitises the readings, while the onboard SMUX lets the chip route sensor signals to the ADC as needed.Adafruit has mounted the sensor on a STEMMA QT form factor breakout with level shifting and STEMMA QT connectors compatible with SparkFun Qwiic, so it can be connected without soldering to 3.3V or 5V boards. Arduino and CircuitPython libraries are provided to handle the sensor setup and reading process, with example code to help you get started.
