## Description

Add motion, direction and orientation sensing to your project with this all-in-one 9-DOF sensor from Adafruit. The LSM9DS1 from ST Micro combines a 3-axis accelerometer, 3-axis magnetometer and 3-axis gyroscope into a single chip — the updated successor to the LSM9DS0. The breakout board includes a 3V regulator and level-shifting circuitry, so it works with both 3.3V and 5V microcontrollers. Both I2C and SPI interfaces are supported, with library support for each. Key Features 3-Axis Accelerometer – ±2/±4/±8/±16 g selectable ranges 3-Axis Magnetometer – ±4/±8/±12/±16 gauss ranges for compass heading 3-Axis Gyroscope – ±245/±500/±2000 degrees-per-second ranges Temperature Sensor – On-chip temperature reading Dual Interface – I2C and SPI supported Wide Voltage Range – 3–5V power and logic with on-board regulator and level shifting Breadboard-Friendly – Power and data pins on one side, interrupt pins on the other Four Mounting Holes – For secure mechanical attachment LSM9DS1 vs LSM9DS0 Accelerometer – LSM9DS1 offers ±2/±4/±8/±16 g (no ±6 g range). LSM9DS0 has ±2/±4/±6/±8/±16 g. Magnetometer – LSM9DS1 offers ±4/±8/±12/±16 gauss (higher max range). LSM9DS0 has ±2/±4/±8/±12 gauss (lower minimum). Gyroscope – Both share ±245/±500/±2000 dps ranges. Accuracy – LSM9DS0 has slightly better zero-rate (±25 vs ±30 dps) and accelerometer offset (±60 vs ±90 mg). These differences may not matter for most projects. Price – The LSM9DS1 is generally lower cost than the LSM9DS0.
