These 5050-size (5 × 5mm) RGB LEDs have an integrated WS2812-compatible driver chip, making them the same individually addressable LEDs used in NeoPixel strips and pixels. Each LED includes ~18mA constant-current drive per channel, so colour remains consistent even with voltage variation — no external current-limiting resistors required. Power them with 5V DC and control via a single data line.
The LEDs are chainable: connect the data output of one to the data input of the next to build custom LED arrangements of any shape or length.

Note: This is the older 'S' revision with 6 pins (not 4). It is code-compatible with the newer 'B' revision and has the same brightness and data interface, but the pinout differs — these cannot be used as drop-in replacements for 'B' chips on existing PCBs. The 'B' revision adds built-in polarity protection. For new PCB designs, the 'B' revision is recommended.
