## Description

A popular low-dropout (LDO) 3.3 V linear voltage regulator based on the LD1117 in a TO-220 package. With approximately 1 V dropout and up to 800 mA output current, it cleanly steps down 5–15 V supplies to a regulated 3.3 V with 1% accuracy. Built-in current limiting and thermal shutdown provide robust protection. The TO-220 package allows heatsinking for higher-current applications, dissipating up to 2 W without an external heatsink.
