Luca Dentella has written a great tutorial on how to use the Allego ACS712 low current sensor breakout board, and demonstrated how to interface it with an Arduino. Naturally from that point you can create all sorts of displays, data loggers and so on based on the results. The method is very simple as the ACS712 outputs a voltage which is a function of the current. Using analogRead() you have a resolution of aruond 0.026A.
